THE AIMS OF THE MEETING

Emphasizing the importance of applying the principles of sustainable development in road economy activities
- Recognition the issues and suggestions for solving the problems, road economy is facing with, in achieving the objectives of environmental protection and resource management during all stages of road life cycle, from planning to maintenance of the road network

- Exchange of experiences and regional cooperation strengthening which refers to environmental protection from the impact of roads and traffic

- Promotion of a comprehensive approach and continuity in the implementation of the principles and methods of environmental protection in all stages of the road life cycle, from planning, through design, constructing and operating, to maintenance

TOPICS:

1. LEGISLATION AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
- National legislation, regulations and standards of EU and international financial institutions, carbon credits, international cooperation

2. ROAD AND TRAFFIC IMPACTS ON ENVIRONMENT
- Indicators, modeling, monitoring, studying the impact, abatement and mitigation measures, compensation, specific impacts in urban conditions

3. IMPACTS OF CLIMATE CHANGES AND OTHER FACTORS ON TRAFFIC AND ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE
- The impact of weather and climate extremes (floods, snow drifts, weather disasters), landslides, implementation of sustainable (environmental friendly) measures for road protection, risk assessment of climate changes, adaptation to climate changes

4. RESOURCE MANAGEMENT IN INFRASTRUCTURE
- Planning and footprint, waste management, recycling, life cycle assessment of materials and structures, innovation in order to save resources, energy efficiency, accessibility to
atractive facilities (tourism)
